I can no longer access the wp thyroid I was taking. I have ordered nature thoid. I have hashimotos. Anyone have good experience with making this switch or using nature thoid? Also thinking about trying erfa but I have heard some not so good things?

Nature thoid, erfa?
Lunation,
There is a shortage of WP and NatureThroid due to RLC Labs upgrading their facilities and equipment. NatureThroid is well regarded by many people on the forum. stopthethyroidmadness.com/2...
There has also been a shortage of Erfa in Canada and Europe for a few months.
Hi Lunation, I am currently taking nature throid, and I don't know if it effects where you are, but they are having a shortage in production, as I wasn't told two days ago, September 19, 2017, by my pharmacist. The same company makes WP, as yu probably know.
I'm new to thyroid and have only been taking NT for three months. I'm still on a low dose of 1.75g as I titrate relatively slowly, but not too slowly, at 1/4g titration every 7 or so days. I intended on titrating up by .5 once I reached 2g, but with this interruption in production, I may have to switch.
I don't think I'm on a high enough dose, nor have had a long enough time with nature throid to give a fully vetted opinion, but I can say, it didn't cause any adverse additional issues. My heavy painful swelling is my main bother, and it hasn't shifted at all, but then I m not sure that I've been on a dose high enough nor long enough to attest to its efficacy.
As such, I wouldn't discourage your change to NT, but it is concerning that they are having a lapse in production. I don't know when it will recover production, and thereafter, one can't be encouraged that the resuming and possibly rushed batch will be without quality issue. If there are no reported issues in thenresuming batch, NT may be a good option for you.
Best wishes. Hopefully this shortage won't be too long, or detrimental.
Today's update from RLC Labs
NATURE-THROID & WP THYROID·WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2017
We announced a few weeks back that our manufacturing upgrades were complete, but many of you still had questions about what the upgrades entailed, and understandably so. Simply put: We are expanding to keep up with the growing demand for Nature-Throid and WP Thyroid.
To keep up with demand for our medications, we moved to a new facility and got to work on upgrading our equipment and processes. During the transition, however, we experienced a large surge in orders and had difficulty meeting them. This regretfully caused the backorder of our medications, which we are actively working our way out of. The good news is that the upgrades we have made ensure that, not only will be able to satisfy all orders, we will be able to ensure ongoing, full-scale production without any disruptions. You can also rest assured that neither Nature-Throid or WP Thyroid are being discontinued, despite what you may have heard.
Our teams are making every effort to have all strengths stocked and available as quickly as possible while adhering to our strict quality standards–the industry allows for a monograph discrepancy of +/-10% between T4 and T3, but Nature-Throid and WP Thyroid are not released outside of +/-2%. All counts of the medications will be released and strengths are being prioritized based on highest demand. We are unable to provide any definitive dates at this time, but hope to have them in the coming weeks and will share updates as soon as they are available.
If you're having difficulty getting your prescription from your usual pharmacy, we recommend calling around to other local pharmacies to see if they have your strength in stock. You can also check with any of the mail-order pharmacies that are listed on our website: bit.ly/RLCFindAPharmacy; they may be able to provide a faster turnaround.
We sincerely apologize for the strain the delay has caused and we are working day and night to get back on track. Patients are and always have been the top priority at RLC Labs and we are steadfast in our commitment to supplying the highest quality hypothyroid medications.
Thank you,
The RLC Labs Team
i called the pharmacies listed and they said it was a nationwide shortage and they didnt have any...and as of a couple days ago RLC labs told me they didnt know when they would be back up and running and wasnt giving out dates now...SO THAT IS ALARMING...there is a compounded thyroid called acella that is similar but comes in 60 instead of 65 grains.....i tried it...it is a little less effective for me but other love it
Acella 60 mg or 1 grain has a similar content of T4 and T3 as Nature-Throid (38 mcg T4 and 9 mcg T3).
The link below lists all NDT products and their contents
stopthethyroidmadness.com/a...
Try to increase the dose of Acella by 1/4 grain to what you have been taking as Nature-throid and see how it goes.
I have not tried Acella myself.
Until yesterday there were a few 1 grain Nature-Throid left (expiry date July 2020). Unfortunately, all are gone now.
thank you...it is in capsule form so I really don't know how to do that...they give me two one grain or 60mg capsules....have any ideas or experience
You are very welcome.
There are tablets/pills cutters. These can be found in boots and online but I cannot recommend any particular one as I have not used them.
it is not a tablet hence I do use pill cutter...this is a loose product inside a capsule hence it is compounded or filled capsules of accella at the pharmacy so it makes it harder to take a capsule and empty it and take just a little I guess under the tongue...???
To empty the content of the one pill on a small plate and then to divide into four portions???
Many people switch between brands. Both WP Thyroid and Nature-Throid are hypo-allergenic. So, perhaps a better alternative for you. Give it a go and see how you feel.
