Accepted Prescriptions in Europe

I'm going to travel to europe to buy NDT medications, I would ask local doctor here in Saudi to prescribe NDT, however not sure what are the prescriptions that pharmacies in Germany or Belgium or Poland ... will accept? Does it have to be from that country?

Ali1101,

Will your doctor write a prescription for a medicine which is derived from pig thyroid and will you be allowed to import it into Saudia Arabia?

I know prescriptions in one European country should be acceptable in other European countries but I've no idea whether prescriptions written outside of EU will be acceptable. Why don't you use your Saudi prescription to buy NDT online? Try the online pharmacies in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm... Please note I do not know whether the pharmacies will ship to Saudi Arabia.

The doctor will write this prescription. He is a good buddy 😁. I did import T3 but I don't trust the medication to arrive safely from US or Europe because here we have terrible hot temperatures. I may need to wait till December to ship medication in a reasonable ambient temperature, even then I believe there is a good chance the medication will be in an uncontrolled temperature cold or hot and loss potency. Plus I need to pay +$200 for one month supply. So in order to try these variations of medications I decided to take a vacation and travel.

Don't miss the possibility of going in almost the opposite direction - Thailand. There are at least two Thai products which many find good.

I know ... but I'm not allowed to travel to Thailand or Iran.

Sorry - obviously didn't realise that. :-(

I think you need to contact the actual pharmacies you might use. Even though UK prescriptions are theoretically valid in Germany (for example), there is nothing to compel a specific pharmacy to accept one. I suspect the same would be true for a prescription from any other country - though it could be worse and actually never be accepted.

So when you walk to the pharmacy you have a hard copy prescription? Is there any information system that connects pharmacies and clinks?

I read in another website that German pharmacies don't accept prescription unless written by German doctor?

I have personally had ordinary UK NHS prescriptions accepted by German pharmacies for internet ordering.

It seems to be something that is not mandatory - I think the pharmacy can decline any prescription from outwith Germany.
