NDT in Europe

Hi everyone ...

I'm going to visit France and Germany this summer and I would like to buy NDT and/or T3 for self trial since these medications not available where I live. Will I need a prescription?

NDT is illegal in France and is prescription only in Germany. T3 is prescription only in both countries.

So if I went on holiday to France and got caught with Armour thyroid would I get arrested?

I've really no idea whether you would be arrested, whether there would be any penalty, or whether Armour would be confiscated.

There are many exclusions from normal legal controls. One which is very common is for travellers who legitimately have medicines which are legal for them - even if they cannot be legally prescribed in the country they are travelling through.

I am no lawyer - but I doubt you would get arrested. But no doctor in France is allowed to prescribe desiccated thyroid, nor pharmacy dispense it.

As I'm in Budapest/Hungary at the moment I asked the Doctor at the Dental Clinic if T3 or Vit B12 Ampoules can be bought over the counter.

Disappointed to learn the both are Prescription only Meds. 😔

So I'll be home with an empty case.
