I'm also posting these results to hopefully give you the whole picture. Thank you and sorry I'm so over the place, I'm out of my mind with worry tonight.

OK, so your ferritin isn't too bad - could be a tad higher, but not desperate. Your folate is fine. But, there's no B12 on there. And, it really is important to get that tested.

All the rest seems good, as far as I can tell - but I'm not an expert. So, you just need to get your vit D3 up - I'm sure someone will chip in and tell you how - and get your B12 tested.

It could very well be that it's the fillers in the levo that your body doesn't like. Have a look and see what they are, and have a look at the Metavive, and see how they coincide. Might give you a clue what your body is objecting to. :)

Oh yes! Found it! Tucked away in a corner there!

Your B12 is quite high. Have you been supplementing?

summer1953 profile image
summer1953 in reply togreygoose

Not been supplementing I just take a multi vit every day. Thank you.

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply tosummer1953

You're wasting your money with that. Does it contain iodine? That's not good, you don't want iodine. And, if it also contains iron, you won't absorb any of the vitamins.

summer1953 in reply togreygoose

What shall I take then?please advice me.

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply tosummer1953

I'm not very good with supplements, but you certainly don't want anymore vit B12.

If I were you, I would post a new question, asking just about your ferritin and vit D. Then those that know about supplements will answer. :)

B12 is there at the bottom end & at 982 looks over the range max 771

summer1953 profile image
summer1953 in reply toMikeM46

If it's over the range could that be making me worse then do you think? Do you have any idea why it's above range? I only take a multi vit every day. Thank you.

You won't have any problems from having a high b12 level as it is a vitamin that you can't overdose on and you won't have adverse symptoms from high levels. However, you don't supplement so it is odd to have it so high, I think that high b12 levels can be a sign of liver problems

foxrabbit profile image
foxrabbit in reply tofoxrabbit

Although your liver function tests have come back in normal range so hopefully that means it's not the problem!

Summer, if the over-range B12 worries you at all, pop over to the Pernicious Anemia forum and ask them about it :

The only filler in metavive is rice powder and I don't think any of the Levo brands contain it so I doubt the reaction to it is to a filler.

summer1953 profile image
summer1953 in reply tofoxrabbit

I had a thought, could it be a reaction to the pork because I hardly eat meet.

foxrabbit profile image
foxrabbit in reply tosummer1953

Well Levo doesn't have pork in it so I'd say that it's actually a reaction to the thyroid hormones. I'm not a medic but my take on it would be that you have been deficient for so long that your body is reacting to the presence of something that it desperately needs but isn't used to seeing at high enough levels normally.

Have you looked into your adrenals at all? Other people that have talked about reacting badly to thyroid meds with similar symptoms to yours have had underlying adrenal issues.

If it was me, I'd try a tiny dose and work up. Get a pill cutter and cut your Levo dose down to make 12.5mcg or less and build it up every few weeks. Or if you are going down the metavive route, take the smallest does possible, or cut it if you can (I'm not sure how they look or if you can cut them), and build up gradually.

Good luck

They look good so you don't need to be so worried. You just need to get started on Levothyroxine. Have you started it yet? You're more worried than you need to be so relax. Do something relaxing. Remind yourself you might be worrying because its a symptom of thyroid imbalance.

Levo made me so very ill I had to stop taking it, so I'm too scared to go back on it.

Nanaedake profile image
Nanaedake in reply tosummer1953

What kind of ill? Which Levos have you tried?

summer1953 profile image
summer1953 in reply toNanaedake

Bloating, gas, headache, swollen legs, nausea heat palpitations tingling in top of my head, brain fog, tearfull, anxious, sleeping all day with nightmares as well. Dr gave me levothroxin and a brand also called Eltroxin then I bought METAVIVE 1 and still ill on that as well.

Nanaedake profile image
Nanaedake in reply tosummer1953

What kind of levothyroxine was it?

Nanaedake profile image
Nanaedake in reply tosummer1953

The symptoms don't sound dangerous, just uncomfortable. Take a paracetamol for the headache.

Nanaedake profile image
Nanaedake in reply tosummer1953

Have you tried Actavis? It's been around for a while and I find it's ok.

summer1953 profile image
summer1953 in reply toNanaedake

Will my dr give it to me if I ask do you think?

Nanaedake profile image
Nanaedake in reply tosummer1953

I don't know but it's readily available in the UK and it's a generic so no problem for the NHS. Ask doc to give you a presciption for levothroxine, ring aroung the pharmacies and ask them if they have Actavis in stock and then just pick up a pack from them. They only do 50 and 100 mcg tablets but you can buy a pill cutter from Boots and cut a tablet in a quarter to get you started then a few weeks later take a half and so on.

Ask the doc about taking paracetamol for the headache. It shouldn't interfere. Remember to take levo on an empty stomach with a whole glass of water and then no food or drink for an hour afterwards. You can drink water though.

The bloating will settle down eventually but you can have a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before each meal and see if it helps.

Put your feet up higher than your hips for swollen legs and get a hypnotherapy CD for the nightmares Go to sleep listening to a calming tape.

Lemon in water

And going off gluten & dairy. VERY often the very foods create alot of those emotions/sensations. And by default just as Levo is trying to do its thing -, one is interrupting w/the foods that bring turmoil.
