Help I've been taking 25mg of levothyroxine for 12 days. Apart from my heart beating like crazy after I took the first tablet for a short time all going ok.

This evening had 2 sips of red wine, and suddenly severe breathlessness, my temperature soared, my skin all over my body felt like it was on fire. The breathlessness lasted a few minutes and my skin took about 20 mins.

Has this happened to anyone else

I hope you don't mean "hyperthyroid" as Levo is the treatment for hypothyroid, expect it was typo.

Yes a typo

Sounds like an allergy - don't drink red wine (apparently you are more likely to be sensitive to red than white) - and check the fillers in the tablets for things like acacia which many people are sensitive to.

Thanks , I shan't be touching the red wine again that's for sure!

To check that it is an allergy to the fillers take an antihistamine and hour before your medication and if it stops the problem then it's the fillers. I have had a similar thing happen to me when undermedicated which you are until you find your dose. Some days I could have a drink and everything fine but sometimes I could feel very drunk so stopped the alcohol in case I got the drunken me!

But more likely to BEfillers so ask the pharmacist to suggest a different brand. When you are happy with the replacement then ask them to put that brand in your notes and also tell your GP.
