Hair dye
Try a small amount of a few drops of both parts of the colour as a skin patch test just behind your ear before you use a dye if you are unsure how you might react. Do it at least a day before you dye your hair and leave it on for the full developement time It's always best to do a skin test first anyway.
Hi, I'm wondering what sort of things I might run into during the skin test?
Basically if there is any irritation of the skin at all it keeps it localised to a small area. If there is any sign of redness or blistering within 24 hours then it's best to not dye your hair. Just do an area the size of your little finger nail. If you have problems with puffing up of your eyes or lips seek medical advice straight away. That is a standard hairdressers patch test for allergy/reaction to hair dye and each brands application leaflet should have instructions to do that before first time use anyway.
If you want to know if any of the specific chemicals in hair dye will react with your medication before you try then it would be better to maybe contact the manufacturers or speak to a chemist because there are a lot of differences between brands.
If you use a 'box' from the chemist or supermarket it will give you a guide to doing a skin test and what to look for, if you are ok to use it you will find it makes your hair feel and look much better because it fills in the holes and rough patches in the cuticle of your hair, smoothing it and making it shine! I have 4 colours in mine lol.
I wouldn't use a commercial hair dye as they contain lots of nasty things. You could try one of the henna/amla/indigo mixes or make your own, or try one of the more natural ones. Changing your hair colour can often make you feel better.
