Haynton Some people find fingerprick tests easy to do, some have a lot of trouble. I did one yesterday, blood dripped into tube and filled it within 30 seconds, but I've done quite a few so know how best to do it for me.

Medichecks recommend the venous option for the Ultravit because it's a lot of tests for a small amount of blood, if there's not enough blood then they can't do all of the tests.

If you have the option of a venous blood draw either without charge or for a reasonable charge, then you might be better doing that if you've not done a fingerprick test before.

The microtainer for the fingerprick test is very small, it's less than 1ml (a teaspoon is about 5ml) and you just have one tube. I did mine with Blue Horizon but they use the same labs so it is probably the same kit sent out with different packaging.

I contacted the phlebotomy services at my local NHS hospital (Shrewsbury) and they have a drop-in clinic from 8.45am - 5pm Mon- Fri and they only charged me £5 for drawing a venous test. It may well be worth contacting a similar department at your local hospital.
