Hi - new here and worried....recent standard blood tests show tsh 0.19 (0.34-5) and everything else was normal....GP said it could be transient and asked to repeat blood test in 6-8 weeks. I am going though a high anxiety period and this does not help...oh dear should i worry or not yet?
Low TSH everything else normal: Hi - new here and... - Thyroid UK
Low TSH everything else normal
Were any antibodies tested? You could have Hashi's, which tends to mess about with your results. And were your Frees tested? If so, and they were in range, then I don't think you should be worried. But, it's difficult to know what you mean by 'everything else'.
Many thanks. It was just a standard blood test and i was told tf4 was absolutely fine thus wait and see approach for now. What can cause tsh to be low other than thyroid issues? I am sorry i am totally new to all this so my questions are very basic...
Could be a pituitary problem. Could be a pituitary problem. But, in general, it's a very unreliable test, and should never be used on its own to diagnose or to treat. And, 'absolutely fine' is an opinion, not a diagnosis.
So, I take it you didn't get any antibodies tested. Well, personally, I would want to know a lot more than just a standard blood test could tell me. You can, you know, get private testing, without any involvement from your GP. There are details of cost, etc. on the main page of Thyroid UK.
I think doctors should do full test would save grime money and worry.
Many thanks...i am supposed to have thyroid function test in 6-8 weeks but not clear what that involves. Happy to have private tests.
But still very curious as to what can make tsh levels "transient"???
Any comments will be appreciated 😢
