Fed up if the pain in legs at the moment and my weight. Just received hospital letter from review and they are putting me on Levothroxine together with the Carbimazole. Anyone out their the same or any information that can help. Got my print out as someone on here told me to do. My Vit D is 130 - should 50

Kazbar-70,

TSH 7.16 indicates you were overmedicated on 40mg Carbimazole. I suspect FT4 8.4 may be below range but can't be certain without the lab ref range (figures in brackets after results). 20mg Carbimazole should continue to block your natural thyroid hormone and 100mcg Levothyroxine will replace the blocked hormone. You should be retested in 6-8 weeks to check doses are adequate.

VitD 130 nmol/L is optimal. There's no need to supplement.

I would need to see PTH range to tell whether it is high, low or middling.

For maximum absorption Levothyroxine should be taken with water 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, vitamin D supplements, magnesium and oestrogen.

It takes 7-10 days for Levothyroxine to be absorbed before it starts working and it will take up to six weeks to feel the full impact of the dose. Symptoms may lag behind good biochemistry by several months.

You should have a follow up thyroid test 6-8 weeks after starting Levothyroxine. Arrange an early morning and fasting (water only) blood draw when TSH is highest, and take Levothyroxine after your blood draw.

Thank you for the advice. I start the medication tomorrow. The blood test U can only do after work which is a bit if a nightmare. I have a spot back at hospital on the 27th September. My joints are really feeling it the last 2 weeks. That's where most of my pain is coming from. Im now constipated alot which I'm not normally. Felt Fed up last few days. Do t feel like myself anymore again. Thought the medication was working. Thus us such a frustrating disease

Kazbar-70,

You've been overmedicated on 40mcg and made hypothyroid. You will start feeling better now Carbimazole dose is reduced and Levothyroxine is replacing your T4 and T3.
