Hi

I saw my endo for the first time and advised him that I did not feel well on the 75mg of levethyoxin prescribed by my Gp and was taking 25 mg of T3 as well . He agreed to monitor me and took bloods . I am due to go back and see him in a few weeks . The letter he sent me said I had T3 toxicosis and needed to lower my dose . He has attached my blood results as below but with no ranges . Please can I have your advice .

Gill007,

Contact the endo and ask what the FT3 ref range is. Had you taken T3 before the blood test?

Gill007,

In that case, if FT3 6.0 is over range you are over medicated. How much did your endo recommend reducing?

I recommended reducing it to half a tablet ( 12.5 mg) a day with 75 mg of T4 but this was before he had the bloods done .

Gill007,

Without knowing what the FT3 range is I can't tell how much over range you are. It may be worth trying the reduction and make sure you get the ranges when you next see him.

Thank you . I will ring his secretary tomorrow and try and find out the ranges
