This is exactly how I feel every day when taking Levo. I have recently switched to NDT through a private doctor, this was 4 weeks ago, so not sure whether this has helped enough but feeling a bit better not so swollen. I think the next step for me is T3 but this seems difficult to source. I think the answer is to self medicate and see how you feel, what suits you best. I really believe Levo can give the side effects you have mentioned.

Hi I have been in t3 for a week now and have noticed I don't want to sleep or feel as tired as I did, however this t3 is a trial for 3 months and I had to battle to get that, i will keep an eye and will be back to gp tomo for blood test and go from there,

When you switched over to NDT did you have to discontinue Thyroxine or did you start it straight away ?

Thanks

You can switch straight over if you have been on levo to an equivalent of NDT.

Thanks did you get the NDT from your doctor or did you buy it ?

We have to purchase NDT ourselves now. We did get it prescribed but the BTA have made False Statements about a product in use for over 100 years, safely and patients felt wel and also there was a saving in that there were no blood tests. :)

You'd have to put up a fresh post asking for a Private Message to be sent to you of where to source NDT and there are several by different companies.

I was prescribed NDT from a functional medicine doctor, so private prescription

That's excellent and you should feel much better, I believe. It has to be gradually increased every couple of weeks I believe.

I bought mine as few doctors will now prescribe NDT as the guidelines have been changed. I now take T3 only which I buy.

Thanks for your help . I am seeing my Endocrinologist on Friday so want to be well informed as to the pros and cons or NDT and T3 .

I shall give you one about NDT as the BTA have made False Statements despite it being prescribed for years before they stopped in favour of levothyroxine. Big Pharma wanted a share of profits.

I am on 50mg Thyroxine but have been on higher doses . The doctor keeps wanting me to reduce doses as my TSH level is 0.02 . However after posting my results here I have been advised to include some T3 as that is on the low side but within range . Just know that there is something wrong I have had VitD checked and was low on Vit D also I have adrenal issues as cortisol levels were non existent.

Yes it's very frustrating, I have been hypo for 7yrs and when I see the consultant he said I have never had my t3 checked, I said I'm 53 and feel about 80, I started to get frustrated with him and told him I don't want to feel like this the rest of my life I'm willing to try anything,

This t3 is all down to bloody funding never mind how the patient feels, he did agree that it's down to money, not all hospitals will fund, I had to wait for his call to see if my hospital would agree and he called me in the afternoon and said there are no restrictions at my hospital. I have been on t3 for 9 days and I can honestly say that I can stay awake in the evening and I don't feel like I need to sleep mid morning, that has really pleased me.

It is amazing how T3 makes you feel when you've been struggling on levo. They just don't appear to understand the difference it can make and there are couple of other T3s (I believe) that are much cheaper and can be prescribed on a named-patient basis.

That's great . I have ordered some T 3 today via a link that was sent by one of the members on this site in anticipation of not being able to get it. I don't have tiredness to much but get swollen hands and feet , joint pain and general feeling of being unwell . I also suffer anxiety and low mood which I want to make sure is not down to my Thyroid.

For some that's what happens. They are the ones who are getting on with their lives not looking for answers on this site .
