How to convince endo that gluten and dairy are bad?

Hello,

I'm totally convinced that gluten and dairy are bad for me. Not only for my thyroid, but also for many other things.

But I do want to convince my endo that gluten and dairy can affect people with hashimoto. (I don't care much if he's not convinced, but it makes me a but upset that endos say food has nothing to do with it.)

I've read that gluten has a composition similiar to the cells of the thyroid, that's why it tempts the antibodies to start an attack. About dairy, I'm not sure what it does.

Now I need a medial reference for that to convince him.

Any suggestions?

Try PubMed, Science direct and google scholar but to be honest I'm not sure the scientific studies/evidence yet exists that will provide enough evidence.

Make an informed judgement yourself and do what you think is best for YOUR body - don't think it matters what the endo thinks.

I'm checking pubmed, and will check the other two. Thanks for the suggestion.

I know, I just think it feels good that physicians open up to new ideas.

Never, ever discuss nutrition with a doctor, that's my advice. They know nothing about it. They didn't do it in med school, therefore it is unimportant. You can't argue with them, because they think they know everything that is necessary to know. Save your breath and do your own thing. It's easier in the end.

OK, finally someone who thinks what I think: "They know nothing about nutrition". :)

Most doctors are bigoted!

Sure are! Bigoted, misogynistic, condescending and ignorant.

Very frustrating though that so many people's health would be improved off gluten but they don't know/believe this because doctors aren't telling them.

Doctors can't tell people what they don't know.

I think it's worth telling him about your experience and that of anyone else you know whose symptoms have improved off gluten etc, you never know, it might go in!

I very much doubt it. Unless you are coeliac , doctors and many others ,including so called Health journalists believe that gluten free diets are just a fad ,part of the " Clean Food " movement ( which to my mind has been much misunderstood and maligned )
