Today I have been feeling dizzy. Nearly fainted. This has never happened before. Does anyone get this too? I have been on 25mg (2 weeks) then 50mg (6 weeks) levothyroxine . I was diagnosed about 8 weeks ago. Tsh 62. Thanks
Your body is possibly getting ready for a further increase in Levo. Presumably you are due a thyroid retest as last increase was 6 weeks ago.
All thyroid blood test should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after.
As you have been on loading dose vitamin D that probably will be rechecked too. If not you can get a private finger prick test in post from vitamindtest.org.uk - £28. We need Vitamin-D at higher end of range (around 100nmol/L ) to help utilise thyroid hormones
Did your GP check B12 & folate. These can be low when hypo and low B12 can affect balance - ask that they are checked
Also ferritin and thyroid antibodies need checking.
Always get copies of all results (including ranges) and keep good records so you can track your progress
You are aiming for a TSH below 2 and FT4 and FT3 above middle of their ranges as a minimum, plus good levels of all vitamins mentioned
As others have said, with TSH of 62 on diagnosis you are likely to need several increases yet, but we have to step up slowly in max jump of 25mcg, or sometimes smaller increases if find it difficult to tolerate. (Can if required step up 12.5mcg by alternating daily dose eg 50/75mcg)
If you have high thyroid antibodies then this is autoimmune thyroid disease and is most common Uk reason for being hypo. You need to know if this is the cause.
