Levothyroxine tablets

Hi. I read that the 50mg and 100mg Levo tablets, apart from strength, have a slightly different formula. Is this true. Have people had more problems on the 100mg and switched to taking 2 50mg's?

The most common reason to see this asserted is that, in the USA, the 50 microgram tablets do not have any colours added. All other dosages do.

In the UK, none has any colouring at all so that issue simply does not apply.

The other reason for slight differences is that in some makes, the amount of excipients (inactive ingredients) changes. From what I have read here, Teva tablets vary in size by dosage so could very well be exactly the same mixture. In some other makes, the 100 doesn't appear to be twice the size of the 50 (or four times the size of the 25).

However, all tablets from one manufacturer have the same excipients across all dosages.

(By the way, levothyroxine is in micrograms, not milligrams.
