Hi, I have been on Thyroid tablets 100mg for about 12 yrs , had blood tests,( I always have to phone the doctors to see if I need one, it could be two- three yrs )

My question is I have read an article, that you should take the tablets an hour before you eat or drink tea- coffee etc ..and two hrs before other tablets,

I have now have Angina,so I need to take tablets for this,

Has anyone heard of this ....

Cheers

Yes. Advice always given here is to take your Levo on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, with a glass of water only, no tea, coffee, milk, etc, and water only for an hour either side, as absorption will be affected. Take any other medication and supplements 2 hours away from Levo, some need 4 hours.

Levo can be taken at a time to suit you, some members take it at bedtime (in which case

if evening meal is the largest meal of the day then leave 3 hours before taking Levo), some of us take it in the early hours of the morning if we need regular bathroom trips during the night, some take it when first waking, get ready for the day then by that time an hour may have passed and it would be fine to take your Levo.

Ah ok I think 🤣, I did do that, getting up in the night or waking up early, and taking it , but because I was so used to taking it , before work( retired now and I took it with water but , also had my tea and breakfast ) blood tests were ok , so the doctor said so a bit confused

All a doctor does is look to see if the results are within the reference range, if so then according to them everything is hunky dory. This is what keeps so many of s ill, because it's where within the range they lie that matters. Always ask for a print out of any tests that you have, just ask at the reception desk (not the GP) and don't accept hand written or verbal results as mistakes can be made, make sure you get a print out with the results and the reference ranges should be on there as well.

If you wish to post your results (with ranges) members can interpret them for you.

I have always taken my med (Synthroid) an hour before eating. As for meds, as far as I know it’s certain ones. They can’t contain certain ingredients like antacids I suggest you google meds to avoid close to taking it.
