i have all symptoms of hypothyroidism and also have Hashi.
finally convinced my GP to prescribe some levothyroxine. He gave me 50mg of Eltroxin. I asked him to take my blood pressure which was high, he then reluctant to give me script but persuaded him to give it to me anyway. He suggested then that I start on 25 mg instead of 50mg because of high blood pressure. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Anna

Have you seen an Endocrinologist yet or did another Consultant test for Antibodies eg Gastroenterologist?
If you haven't seen Endocrinologist yet, if this were me then I would ask GP for urgent referal to an Endocrinologist. He/she should fully investigate you and decide correct start dose ie 25mcg or 50mcg. They should retest bloods and review dose in 6 - 8 weeks. I saw Endo for 3 appointments over 4 months before being discharged back to GP for continued monitoring.
Hi Mary, it's a long story. Have seen 2 endocrinologist and both refuse to treat me despite numerous symptoms of hypothyroidism. Bloods are all in range so they ignore the symptoms. At least this new GP is willing to consider treatment! It will be interesting to see how I get on. Anna
With Hashi 's bloods can fluctuate. Mine were Hypothyroid in 2008 and Euthyroid 18 months later. Wasn't diagnosed for another 18 months in late 2011 after I'd asked for the Ultrasound scan. Morning after the scan GP made urgent referal to Endocrinologist.
Don't either of the Endocrinologist's want to get your TSH down?
I suppose your 'in range' bloods are low in range T4 and high in range TSH.
Hope you get on the right dose for you in the next 8 weeks.
