Blood test for lactose intolerance

My doctor took my blood today and she said that it is testing for all different stuff including lactose intolerance and coeliac disease, how will she be able to tell with my blood if I have the lactose intolerant because I thought I had to do a breath test to test for that?

Kerinroberts,

There was something about the blood test in the link I posted to you yesterday about the breath test.

Okay!! Do you know anything about if I can now eat gluten after being tested for coeliac? Because I want to start a diet with out gluten in as it would make me bloated and not look any better?

And also I didn't have to drink any drink which contained lactose? And I had milk and dairy the day before???

Kerinroberts,

Wait until you have the results of the coeliac test before you start eating gluten in case the sample is spoiled or you need to retest. I can't help you with the lactose. You'll have to Google for more information or ask your GP about it.

Do you mean eat gluten until the results or not? Can I stop eating gluten now or not because I want to stop? Would you say vegetable soup would be an example of gluten that I could eat if you did mean to eat it until the results???

Kerinroberts,

Yes I meant eat gluten until you get the results in case you have to retest. It's entirely up to you whether you do so or not.
