First of all - be aware you may have to educate your doctors. You don't just want your levels to be between the reference ranges. You need both FT4 and FT3 to be at the top of their ranges. Not just over the bottom of the range - you'll likely feel awful if they medicate you only that far. You'll probably need more than 100mcg. Make sure you find out what your blood test results actually are and if there's room for improvement, stress that you still have symptoms and ask for a raise in dose.
Once stable on medication, many doctors will revert to testing once a year. But that shouldn't happen until you are stable and I would urge that if you feel under or over-medicated at any point that you go to see your doctor for a test.
Between the ranges is meaningless. If we have no clinical symptoms and feel well, yes - we are on the right dose. Please post your results with the ranges so that members can respond more fully.
TSH - it is preferrable if result is around 1 or lower.
Free T4 and Free T3 should be towards the upper part of the range but these are rarely taken and it is TSH and T4 which is usually taken.
Can you post your results. Did you allow a gap of 24hours between your last dose and the test. Did you fast (you can drink water).
Also if newly diagnosed GP should have tested, B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. We can be deficient and they should be optimal.
i m gonna have the next test after a week...i only skip it the morning and i take it after the blood test is done.should i skip it the previous day aswell?
