There is nothing wrong with your results, they instead suggest you need an increase to 100mcg rather than stopping them all together. Did he want you to reduce or stop completely. I cannot see any justifiable reason for this, did he give any other explanation - in fact it's insane - go register with another doctor asap
Some people with hypothyroidism are thin, others are normal size and others are fat.
Please see another GP in the practice and if they are just as stupid change practices as if this GP does this with this condition they will do it with others.
Oh my gosh, the stupidity never ends! I have always been on the thinner side, I only put a little weight on when I'm hypo although not visibly and many don't at all. If you were misdiagnosed and you've been taking T4 with a fully functioning thyroid, you would not have a TSH as high as this and your T4 and T3 levels would be a little higher.
No one should be diagnosing anyone or anything based on weight alone as everyone's body copes differently. Get out of there pronto!
You are under medicated to have TSH 4.5. Your GP should increase your dose to 100mcg not decrease it. Please see another GP at the practice for a second opinion before agreeing to your GP's suggestion.
The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.
It is totally shocking and stopping your medication will make you feel a lot worse / down right ill ! As Clutter says you need your dose putting up not down. But you mustn't stop taking your medication, you mustn't agree to your doctors suggestion !
Okay, I still mean what I said earlier lol but I just remembered something I saw a few months back when looking into my mums issues and just on the teeny weeny remote chance you mean thin as in eating disorder/severe starvation and malnutrition thin and the GP is also dealing with this issue with you, it might apply? I believe in cases of anorexia, for example, the body will put you into a hypothyroid state which can present as hypo but this is to slow metabolism on purpose so the body can survive longer than if it didn't. This will often improve after resolving the eating issue. I would imagine in this case, it might actually be dangerous to medicate until they are eating again. They wouldn't have antibodies in this case and tsh is more likely to be borderline with very low T3/T4 levels.
As I said, it just popped into my mind and for the sake of 100% accuracy in facts, thought I would mention just in case as I suppose there is a case of tooooo thin lol. Please don't take offence as I'm assuming this is not the case as you are still having periods which is unlikely in these circumstances
