Hashimoto confusion

Hello, I have hasimoto's , been on 50mcg of Levo for 5 months, just did my labs and my tsh went from .57 to .28 (reference range .40-4.50), so it seems like my thyroid is getting hyper......but my doctor wants to keep me on the levo and add some T3 cytomel (t3free is at 2.6 reference range 2.3-4.2)Does this sound like the correct thing to do?

Kris10marie You can't go hyper, you have Hashimoto's which is gradually destroying your thyroid, there's no way it can become over active. You can, however, be overmedicated but you're not.

You have actually got a doctor who, for once, seems to be doing the right thing. He is not being guided by and dosing by TSH. Yes, it's low but it doesn't matter when on thyroid replacement hormone. The only important test is FT3, if that is over range then it signifies that you are over medicated. Yours is very low in range and your doctor has very sensibly suggested adding T3. You are very lucky, many members here would love to have a doctor who understands this and prescribes T3.
