Hi all - following on from my recent blood test results which showed high RT3 I decided to reduce my T4. I was on 100 mcg daily and I dropped to every other day. Bit drastic I thought but many of my symptoms immediately subsided. On the day I took the T4 they were back again. I'm coming up to a long awaited holiday and dont want to spoil it. However I'm feeling more and more that T4 is not for me and will be looking at T3 only when I get back. I would love to hear from anyone who has taken this option with advice on best way.

I cant thank you all enough for being my rock through this thyroid journey xx

Jezebel,

I found adding T3 to Levothyroxine calmed the adverse effect Levothyroxine only caused.

Thanks Clutter. I've been on a combo for 2 years now. I felt wonderful until recently when underactive symptoms came back. My endo allows me to adjust T4 but increasing it made me feel worse. A blood test confirmed high RT3.

Jezebel69,

Best way to clear high rT3 is to take T3 only for 3-4 months. That will clear all the T4 and rT3 and you should be able to resume T4+T3 then.
