T3 Told to buy it abroad by Endo...

Hi, had my 1st appt with <very pleasant consultant> who was lovely! Bit surprised my GP was still prescribing it... He stated all CCGs were telling GPs not to... He explained that Southend had never even tried T3 or St George's? That's why the patient's came to him... He stated places I could get it (countries).. Also that the rotten devil who had bought the rights lived locally...I said I would help if he needed it re speaking to Gov... But he seemed pretty sure it wouldn't change until this guy couldn't flog T3 at the hiked price and someone else got a license to make it.... So unless he didn't like me, I've got to wait till GP stops??? Anyone else had this?? Jo 😊 x

[ Edited to remove name of consultant. He may not wish to be identified in public - even if the comments are positive. We do have a guideline:

26. Do not post information about specific endocrinologists or doctors on the main board without their permission as this may result in unwanted attention from certain areas of the medical profession. If you wish to discuss a particular endocrinologist or doctor, you may mention his/her name and location, providing that you ask for comments by private message only.

Well, I'd rather people fought to find someone here to get the license to make the tablets at a sensible price... What happens if customs start to get funny etc... I think he seemed resigned to the idea it was available in another country...

Far better than an Endo telling you you don't need it, which is what most say :(

I think Endos themselves can fight in a different way than us - by going to conferences and other professional channels and saying what they know. And also by telling patients like you the truth. I think they can be sanctioned for speaking in this way.

I offered to help him, as I have done Casework for an MP and MEP (two different parties) .. So we spoke for a while about J Hunt... Who isn't great tbh... Your positive bits are very true 😊
