Migraine and thyroid imbalance

Hi

I am seeing a doctor on Monday because my thyroid blood test is 4.67 which is too high.

For the last month I have started to have migraine which I have not had for 30 years, is this associated with my thyroid count being so high.?

Has anyone else suffered from this.

Thanks

Jackie

This is a list of clinical symptoms and your dizziness could be caused by hypothyroidism and I'll give you a list of symptoms. Tick them off and discuss and increase in hormones with your GP. The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower.

Hi, hope all goes well at the drs.

I can only speak from my own experience as I am not aware of research on the issue, but yes my migraines are typically triggered by low t3 ( and / or low oestrogen) so I would.say it is possible but everyone is different and migraines a're such an individual thing.

Hi Shaws,

I have been to the doctors today and she has upped my Levothyroxin by 25mg. I asked her for a print out of my levels, on it was printed that should have had my dose increased not like the receptionist said to have another blood test in 3 months.

My levels are 4.67 mU/L

0.27-4.20mU/L

I don.t know what the second result of 0.27 is.

These are the only results on the doctors print out.

At least I might start to feel better now.

The 0.27-4.20 is the range for your TSH result. What that means is that laboratories consider a result that falls within those numbers to be "normal". Since your result was higher at 4.67 the lab made a note that your medication needs to be increased.

As a note, in general people feel best with a TSH of 1 or under, even if the labs consider up to 4.20 to be ok.
