Teva - need advice on what next? Can't sleep AT all...

Right, I have made a royal mess up of my doses etc. I switched from Actavis to Teva and I initially preferred it as it made my head clearer. However it was very 'speedy' and I couldn't sleep properly. I was due to push my dose up from 50mg to 100mg, but as Teva was so strong, I thought I needed to get used to it and subsequently dropped my dose downwards, missed a few doses and started back up again on 12.5mg ( I know miniscule...). Anyway, still didn't sleep and now the undermedicated element is kicking me hard... I can't sleep, Adrenaline surges through the night, anxious, jittery.

What now? Do I continue with a small dose of Teva (to have something in my body) but again continue with not sleeping tonight? Or do I get some Actavis and restart straight away - on 25mcg? And then build up again? I didn't like Actavis as it gave me brain fog / demotivated. I felt more alive on Teva, but it's getting me in other ways!

Really hope someone comes along soon to give me some advice as it's getting desperate. I know I've messed this up.

Basically I think I've gone 'cold turkey' on Levo!

Also, any tips on getting some sleep? I'm waiting for my cortisol saliva readings to be returned - I think it's a high reading at night, but not 100% sure yet. I have adrenaline surges - but could that just be that I'm undermedicated? Seriously thinking of taking one of my mum's cocodamol to sleep for one night.

Thanks in advance...

Sounds like you didn't give Teva a chance......maybe try 50mcg Teva and stick to it for 6 weeks and see how you get on.

mb008,

Dose increases should be in 25mcg increments not 50mcg. You could resume Teva at 50mcg or if you prefer to wait until you have some Actavis resume the Actavis at 50mcg.

Just a thought but for years I have been saying different brands work to slightly different amounts as the manufacturers have to be within a range so the actual range of a particular brand doesn't change but taking a different brand of tablet could be up to 10% different from another. So I'm wondering if TEVA is actually stronger than most and that those taking it should have a blood test to see if levels need adjusting. If anyone has been tested on TEVA it would be useful to know if bloods are significantly different from a pre TEVA medication.

Hi. I was tested on Teva recently and found that my tsh levels rose from 2.4 to 10.7 in a few weeks! Felt terrible and anxious so now back on Actavis (3rd week) but am feeling very be motivated and foggy! Can't win!

Hi..have you tried Wockhardt? Only come in 25 mg but I am on them again...and doubling up. They seem to be the best suited to me...so far.i small going to docs next week to see if I can have it named on my prescription. Will see. If this doesn't work I'm going to try NDT.

That's where I'm at too. If I can't shift this brain fog - I'm going to try naturethroid. Don't really want to but am running out of options. I've heard good things about the brand you mentioned so will look into that and also explore whether the brain fog could be due to low b12.

I definitely had brain fog on actavis. Teva was very strong and I couldn't sleep. Wockhardt improves things for me but I have to raise it more to give it a good go. I need to give it a chance before switching....if I have to that is. Depends what my not so great doc says next week. The thing I like about ndt is that you're not dependent on GP but I don't fancy having to start again...again. anyway...good luck. Be good to hear how you get on.

vwyness if you took TEVA and TSH rose then that would suggest it was weaker than you were used to and that could fit in with not being able to sleep at night. But I think you should stick with a brand you are happy with.
