Hello and blessings to all,
I've had a thyroidectomy back in 2011 due to a malignantcy. My wonderful doctor (endo) at Baylor Clinic in Houston, has been watching a small nodule of thyroid tissue that was left in the bed. Just recently, during one of my scheduled ultrasounds, the tech found several enlarged lymph nodes and a new lesion in my thyroid bed. A biopsy was scheduled. The doctor in radiology took 4 needle draws and later...4 core samples. He said that it didn't look like a lymph node but rather like thyroid tissue he was getting. I asked him how that would be possible and he said all the surgeries I've had on my neck, could have disturbed the cells and they migrated. In 2011. had ACDF surgery on C3 - C6 and 6 weeks later, I was back for the debridgement of all the hardware. I had gotten Osteomyelitis in the bone during surgery. It has been very trying year. Back to the biopsy, it was benign and the doctor was correct!! It was thyroid tissue. Now, I have to be off of my thyroid medication ( Tirosint x 2 (112mcg) = 224mcg for 3 weeks before the ablation. My BP med was also changed. Day 2 and I am so tired and listless.
Has anyone else gone through this? What lies ahead of me. Will I be able to do things with family and friends by week 3? What is an ablation like?
Thank you,
Disa
