Thought I would update as I need information please. I was wondering about having some blood tests done for my thyroid privately. What would I need to ask for too get a list of results for my thyroid function? Thanks
Blood tests: Thought I would update as I need... - Thyroid UK
Blood tests
thewebwitch1 The full list of tests normally recommended, to include thyroid, vitamins and minerals:
TSH
FT4
FT3
Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies
Thyroglobulin antibodies
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
Sometimes it is useful to include reverse T3 when FT3 is low and FT4 is high
To get them done privately Blue Horizon or Medichecks do fingerprick tests. If you want to include reverse T3 it has to be a venous blood draw.
Most of us use the full panel plus vitamins (£99) from Medichecks or Blue Horizon
They both offer money off from time to time - if you sign up for emails - then you can pick a good time to order. Medichecks usually run "Thyroid Thursday" offers
When doing a thyroid blood test, don't take Levo in 24 hours before (delay until after)
Do test as early in morning as possible, fasting but drink plenty of water before, so not dehydrated.
If taking a B complex, if it contains Biotin (most do) stop taking this 4-5 days before. It can falsely affect the TSH results
