I've been on adrenavive iii for a week now, along with thorne ace. This was advised by Dr P. I was wondering if anyone was using dessicated thyroid alongside adrenal cortex? Would you think that this is safe. I am hypothyroid and hypoadrendal. Many thanks.

I haven't started this yet but I saw Dr P and he has recommended adrenavive 2 and metavive 1. I am just waiting for my cortisol tests to come through before I start. Have lowered my Levo but need to start adrenal support. How are you getting on with it?
When I started it I felt a little more stressed for a while but then this seemed to improve and I'm ok now. I too am awaiting cortisol results. How long have you been levo?
I have only been on Levo for about 6 months now. I've been on Teva for the last few weeks (slightly on and off) as it's so strong. I have reduced my dose to a tiny amount now - as I have difficulty sleeping on it - but it's better than Actavis in that I am much more alert. However, no sleep is unsustainable so that's why I think I may as well take this opportunity to take NDT as per DR P's recommendation. The only thing is that I have been sent Adrenavive 1 instead of Adrenavive 2 - so have to wait to swap that over and get my test results.
Hi, No iI've never taken levo. I went to Dr P after I did a private blood test and found TSH was 8.2. Dr P thought adrenals were a major factor. To be honest I have felt much better after taking kelp for 2 weeks now. I must be really short of iodine. I have ndt on order so just waiting for the delivery.
Sounds llike a good thing going on ndt and adrenavive.
I have been taking Adrenavive iii for a few months, after weaning myself off Medrol for adrenal fatigue (prescribed by my doctor). I was not too crazy about the idea of taking Medrol any longer, so I decided to give Adrenavive iii a try. The reason I chose it is that it contains adrenal cortex only, whereas adrenal glandulars also contain adrenaline (which is said to make adrenal fatigue worse in many patients). So far, I've been doing OK on it. Why does Dr. P want you take both Adrenavive iii and adrenal cortex when adrenavive iii contains ACE only?
He doesn't want me to take Adrenavive 3. . I am meant to take Adrenavive 2, but I ordered/was sent Adrenavive 1 in error. So, I need to change that. I have Hashi's and am on Levo right now. After a 3 or so weeks on Adrenavive 2, I will start on Metavive 1 and then phase out Levo completely. That's been my advice from Dr P. What is the difference between Adrenavive 1 and Adrenavive 2? Do you know? What is ACE?? ?
Ha, sorry - I just re-read the trail, I thought question was for me?! Re: - What is ACE - oh, penny's dropped 'Adrenal Cortex Extract'. ??!
What is the difference between Adrenavive 1, 2 and 3? Is it the strength of ACE? Is Adrenavive 1 the lowest? Silly question, but it's just on the labels, Adrenavive 1 states 160mg and Adrenavive 2 states 125mg??? Meaning Adren2 seems to be a lesser strength than Adren1
ACE stands for adrenal cortex extract. Adrenavive numbers show differences in dose. Adrenavive iii is 250mg,the highest dose. He obviously wants you on a lower one, probably 200mg. I think it's really sound advice to boost adrenals first, they are so readily overlooked.
Thanks, kind of figured it once my brain got into the right gear :). I am supersensitive to meds, so I much prefer to go little and slow. I wish I had boosted adrenals before starting on Levo! What were you taking re: Thorne? How are you getting on with Adrenavive? Are you feeling better for it?
No problem. I've been on 300mg thorne ace for 2 years now. It has definitely helped fatigue. The adrenavive iii is 250mg so 5 times strength of thorne. It packs a punch. Early on I didn't feel that good but I've got used to it now. As I said before, kelp iodine has helped me recently, more than ace, especially lifted my mood and muscle pain.
By the way, my brain has been affected a lot from adrenal/thyroid issues. And has been affecting me for many years.
I saw that Adrenavive I contains whole bovine adrenal which means it also contains some adrenaline. That is the reason I decided not to take it. I have read that adrenaline will tend to overstimulate already tired adrenals.
Adrenavive II contains adrenal cortex only but 125 mg per capsule (compared to 250 mg per capsule in Adrenavive III). I may switch to Adrenavive II one day as I think the idea is to be able to slowly wean off adrenal support altogether...at least that is what I hope to be able to do. But, right now, I am doing well on Adrenavive III, and happy to have finally managed to wean off Medrol. Even though I was only taking physiological doses of it (4 mg daily which is the equivalent of 20 mg of hydrocortisone), it's not a drug I'd like to take indefinitely...
You know, after I replied to you, I had a good look and realised what the difference was. Honestly, I've been saying my brain's a little clearer, but obviously not that clear!? Thanks goodness I didn't take the Adren 1.
My GP wouldn't even consider checking my adrenals, I discussed it briefly with him and he just didn't want to know - took my blood pressure and said no, you're fine... What's the point!
Better to take control, but I am such a control freak that I need to have all the information and I am so far from having that right now. This illness has taught me that I have absolutely no choice but to be patient and to take things much slower. Two things that I have historically been unable to do. No choice now! I don't blame you - I was on SSRIs (when I first went to docs saying I was wiped out, many years ago and that's what he prescribed). I so wish I knew then what I do now about adrenal fatigue, but I didn't and so spent an entire year knowing I should n't be on SSRI, but not knowing what was wrong with me. It sounds as if you're making positive decisions about your health. Good for you.
Slow and steady wins the race, as they say. Well I've been on antidepressants, wait for it...15 years! Albeit on low doses. Had therapy, you name it. I'm starting to wonder if all those blood tests at the doctors over the years were misdiagnosed, this was 25 years ago now. It's been a long long road. It would be truly wonderful to come off them, have tried twice but failed. Hopefully getting my thyroid and adrenals right is the start of it.
Sounds like you're on the right tracks to me. I think once you're aware of what it could be (other than depresssion/anxiety)... then you start asking the right questions - and start looking at the alternatives. SSRIs help so many people, but for me, i sort of knew that it wasn't quite right. I would rather not have taken them but didn't have the strength to say no at the time. I weaned off them really, really slowly.
