I agree with you, been on thyroxine for over 60 odd years but just have to put up with fillers, wish they made one free from fillers. Also take paracetamol for arthritis have the same problems. But in Australia you can buy over the counter parecetamol without fillers, why cannot they do one in this country, fillers do not help my colitis. As I am gluten free as much as possible.

Without fillers, there is no tablet. They are what holds the thing together, makes it solid so it doesn't crumble in your hand. Makes the tablet big enough so that you can actually get it out of the bubble pack without losing it under your finger nail. I agree they could be more judicious in their choice of fillers, but there have to be some. :)

Hi greygoose i understand that but they could use thyroid friendly fillers & not the kind that agrivates the thyroid! Take a look& google all the crap in them trust me i no!!!

greygoose in reply to ja90

I agree with you. I'm just saying you can't have filler-free tablets, that's all.

ja90 in reply to greygoose

U can they use calcuum sulphate but v expensive

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to ja90

But that's a filler. Doesn't matter what it is, it still comes under the description of 'filler'.

ja90 profile image
ja90 in reply to elwins

They do make some without the filleres but there v expensive its like banging ur head against a wall

There is not one single thyroid hormone medicine which does not have "fillers" of some sort. (I prefer the word excipient - filler seems to imply something that is only a bulking agent. Many excipients have other roles which are, at least sometimes, important.)

If customs had stopped me they would had a field day, the price was very good, not much more than you would pay over here, around about a pound per packet. They have to realise that some people cannot take the fillers due to being allergic to them.

They want you just well enough to survive and keep on taking the meds - not really well - and preferably sick enough to need more meds for the side effects of the first lot. And they need to make everything as cheaply and easily as possible. The law (in this country) says that a company is there for the purposes of making a profit for its shareholders. Never forget that.

Angel of the north can u order from america without a prescription& if so what about customs??

Angel_of_the_North profile image
Angel_of_the_North in reply to ja90

Never tried ordering anything medical for myself from the US (just for pets). I'm on T3 only from Cyrpus, so I can't help there. I believe you can order many things from Mexico.

Hello there yes you can order from America without a prescription, I did before xmas when worried that my t3 prescription would not be renewed after trial. I had to pay a customs charge, the cost for 3 months supply of t3 perrigo was just over £100, roughly a third of the cost of a private prescription.

I wish i knew then what i knew now and never took eltroxin. Im reading dr isabella wentz the hoshimoto protocol.also dr axe.

I agree with you the quality of some drugs is not the same as the original branded products which had high quality compounds which did not give side effects such as

copy drugs mass produced by licenced companies - however I am sure many people would not be alive today without the drugs available. The sadness comes when drugs

are being removed from formularies which were effective and replaced by newer drugs which are not as effective as the first generation drugs. eg Vibramycin is now replaced by doxycline which does not work as quickly as the old branded drug.

The drug companies spend millions on research, and without funding, the research an production will slow down, so there will be nothing to fill the gap with new superbugs.or

thyroid disease.

The NHS should provide funding research for drugs, rather than the high speed train which will take 17 years to evolve - and most likely will cost the tax payer 17 times

as much !

The path to collapse: thyroids failing, adrenals take over (bit by bit) hence your body goes to war with itself.

in reply to ja90

Hi you have a very complex condition - I too have had a history of thyroid illness

and diabetes type 2 - the rheumatoid condition is again part of your immune system

being attacked. I have had some sort of muscular weakness and joint pains

due to an infection, chest lung, and water - however I have found that

cutting out red meat and tannins sticking to chicken and fish and white bread has helped - New research recommends anti oxidants which help the bowel pqq coq 10

co enzyme Q10 and removal of soya and sugar including added to biscuits for cheese

soups - and many cereals - Two eminent specialists advise diets which may help

all the conditions MD Gundry explains how the berry diet stimulates metabolism

and increases energy - djfoodie .com on Gundry's blog site gives a diet which

cuts out white and beige foods, - another video called the cardiac killer

explains the use of anti oxidants which can renew your health -

Global Healing gives 12 foods which can help your diet - iodine

is essential to unlock T3 and other hormones - and does a nascent drop

preparation whcih ensures absorption of iodine. They also recommend

B12 and folic acid (VIt B) to help the gut and boost metabolism.

The NHS has guidelines of iodine and essential vitamins which are found in food

but some people have difficulties in absorption. I am trying Global healing

preparations B12 better absorption - but Holland and barratt have folic acid and

PQQ and co enzyme Q10 - I have noticed a difference since cutting down on carbs

chips potatoes crisps bread - but bowel symptoms re emerge as soon as I eat bread

and cakes! Molasses may contain tannin - but other honeys may be alright in moderation. Removal of tannin found in beer red wine, tea coffee and chocolate can

prevent the uptake of iron in the blood giving anaemia . As tea cups were always black after drinking tea rather than weak instant coffee I wondered what it was doing to my insides! Nutrition resources org has articles about tannin affecting your health an is very useful.

Other researchers say hashimotos thyroid is a self destructive disease and T hormones are of little help - I suppose some say the thyroid should be removed but many people

might have difficulty with hormone replacement but some feel well soon after removal

and feel no ill effect. As you have several different automimmune disorders it would make sense to try supplements and change diet removing red meat from diet -

Hope you find the articles above useful as I have found them helpful.

Does that include people who are not hashi's also then because I have always wondered this? I've always been funny with milk. I just feel sick within an hour or so of having it so avoid cereals or milkshakes or just drinking the stuff. It's of the liquid form with me though. I love cheese and couldn't live without it! 😂

I used to live off bread and cheese. Also. Was my favorite foods. But i cannot touch it. Nor grains. I more then likely have leaky gut.plus the hoshimoto was probably brought in by leaky gut issues. Also amalgams. Plus plus stress. Im funding most thyroid hoshi people have adrenal insufficiency also. Im taking so many tabs im feeling its also not helping. I hope u find ca natural doctor to wean u off thyroid meds.if u just started as u are young.have you heard about dr isabella wentz?

ja90 profile image
ja90 in reply to 7jaie

Yes i have heard of her she cured herself hashimotos im not autoimmune so i think its gut related or adrenals

Its a nice idea but the pills would be so small without fillers. People would not take a pill that small.

Because it is possibly because of the Georgia guidestones ! The vast amount of conspiracy theories are being proved real. Because of the amount of incomprehensible, emoral behaviour by governments i.e.: allowing banks to steal our money....Iceland put the bankers in jail, why didn't we ? Making people slaves by suppressing jobs, hours, wages, downgrading, education, healthcare and the effrontery of them telling us that more money is being spent etc and we're emagining it all. This is psychological brainwashing against ordinary people.

Nothing makes sense except for the shock to them re the ordinary decent British people knowing, as we always have when enough bullshit is enough and voting to get out of the EU.

Am I on the wrong site for all this or is anyone interested?

Angel_of_the_North profile image
Angel_of_the_North in reply to Mena20077

It's not directly Thyroid related, so probably isn't appropriate for here.

Mena20077 profile image
Mena20077 in reply to Angel_of_the_North

Thank you Angel of the north. I'm having an adrenal overload and feel very aggressive, not my normal demeanour, which makes me even madder. This is the real thyroid collapse when the adrenals take over. It makes me wonder, how menu people are in prison because of this? I left a message with my specialists secretary saying I could kill some one. I am, the real me a passafist, peace, love, anti war and I feel like a lunatic. It is my body just trying to keep me alive. This is a huge subject. I met George Osbourne on his first day as knutsford MP he knew me was real but felt I was being unfair asking him to join the me MP's support group. He's an Asperger wimp not connected to anyone or anything. I have spent years fighting the system. I believe chronic fatigue is the end result of complete thyroid failure. I would respect your thoughts on this.

Hi 7jaie my doctor laughed when i mentioned could i have adrenal fatigue he said there was no such thing!!! And wasnt prepared 2 give me gluten@lactose free meds Such A caring gp!!!!

U.K. Is 40 years behind USA! Or medical profession is intimidated by them. If they admit the. Adrenal path they have to admit to their arrogance , and negligence and I don't see this happening until a new generation of better educated medical practitioners comes along.

All UK medicines which do not actually have a wheat ingredient are regarded as gluten-free.

coeliac.org.uk/coeliac-dise...

Youv'e hit the nail on the head - but many companies make licenced generics abroad which may not have the same quality control as major pharmacy companies. I think companies make drugs for vetinary use particularly horses, as the capsules and caplets are so large Many people can't swallow them, and they can stick in the throat. Do these companies think we have Neanderthal jaws?
