Hi . I have been having very sore feet especially upon rising. Heel pain wben walking
Sore feet: Hi . I have been having very sore... - Thyroid UK
Sore feet
Common with thyroid issues. It's plantar fasciitis
Can be due to too much or too little thyroid hormone. Or low nutrients e.g. vitamin D.
Thank you i am waiting for iron and cortisol results i know it is thyroid related but has got worse
I am on Levo only. Hashimotos, strictly gluten & soya free
As soon as I supplemented & improved low vitamin D I got terrible plantar fasciitis. Almost unable to walk at all. TSH also dropped
Stopped Vitamin-D return of hypo symptoms again - TSH increased too.....but feet improved.
Over last year I have tried that 3 times always same result.
So I have now gone back on vitamin D, using a vitamin D lamp as I don't get on with vitamin D supplements
Feet became extremely painful again, as expected. So very recently I have reduced Levo very slightly as an experiment - feet are much less painful.
I may drop Levo a bit further and/or add small amount T3
Peony57 ....horrid isn't it? This was my routine when I got up......
footactive.co.uk/plantar-fa...
Helped massively.
Also these shoe inserts are really comfy.......

I got these in Boots and can be put into whatever shoes or trainers you are wearing. The relief was instant but still do the exercises on wake-up as that is when it's bad, the "band" that runs along the sole of your foot contracts when you are asleep.
The problem disappeared once I was optimally medicated and supplemented.....but I still have my inserts and tennis ball just in case.
I have inserts for shoes but they make my arches hurt. I have special socks but the oain is on the outside of my feet
I have Pernicious Anaemia and Hashimotos. Painful burning feet are something that I deal with all day, everyday unfortunately. Have you had your b12 and Folate levels checked as this is one of the symptoms of deficiency. Levels of B12 need to be over 500 at least to prevent neurological damage.
Hi singoutloud
I am waiting for iron panel test results to come back my last b12 results feb 2017 was 484pg/L
FERRITIN 135UG/L
cottage223 - just want to add to what helvella has said.
People vary a lot in the levels of B12 they need in their blood to be healthy so ranges are only guidance. Serum B12 levels up to 500ng/L (which is around 370 pmol/L) are grey zone where people can experience neurological problems and damage but that is very different from saying that everyone needs to keep their levels above this.
What it means is that serum B12 can't be taken as a single measure so symptoms and other markers need to be taken into consideration when evaluating a potential B12 deficiency.
Lot more about B12 on the PASoc forum
The combination of thyroid and B12 deficiency is very common - but often overlooked.
I don't have thyroid problems - I do have B12 absorption problems and I had problems with feet for many years which got a lot worse when I was deficient and started treatment. Have you asked for a referal to a podiatrist - they may be able to get some inserts for you that are specifically tailored to your needs.
