First of all I would like to thank everyone on here that has helped me with information over the last 2 weeks since finding this great site after watching 'Trust me I'm a Doctor' programme

I am finally now going to the Doctors tomorrow armed with all your suggested tests and information. However, just found out that my current GP has left the practise and I've got a feeling that the Dr I'm seeing is the one that fobbed me off last year. I went to her feeling quite unwell, asking to be referred back to a M.E/CFS specialist, ( I was diagnosed and treated over 20 years ago in London),because no one is managing my health/tests and that there now must be more development/treatments these days. She told me bluntly that there are no further break throughs or treatment! and that was that! - A wasted journey.

Could someone please give me advice in how to start off the conversation with this Dr. I'll be ok when i'm in full flow, but i know they hate patients that self diagnose theirselves.... I now know I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism ( especially after finding this site) would like to be re- tested along with the vitamin tests you have all mentioned that can contribute to affecting the thyroid.

Shall I say I watched the recent 'Trust me I'm a Dr' programme and realise I must have undiagnosedHypothyroidism ?

Be prepared for any eye-rolling and don't be intimidated by it. This can happen when there has been a recent "heads up" in the media. Politely be firm and say (along with what Reallyfedup said) that you really don't feel well and that it is affecting your daily quality of life and you would like to get to the bottom of it.

Good luck Annealise! :)

I think it helps a GP if you can give specifics about what you can no longer do - rather than a general I feel unwell and tired all of the time, i.e I can no longer do housework/gardening (whatever) after a days work, or I can now only work part-time due to exhaustion, in the last 12 months I can no longer do exercise (go for a long walk) without feeling out of breath or needing to rest the next day, I go to bed early, but never now wake feeling refreshed.

Best of luck with getting agreement for the tests to be done, and remember to book an early am blood draw apt :)
