xjjx,

Thyroid function decreases over time so dose needs increasing to compensate.

I would rather the GP had rounded it up to 200 so i do not have to take 3 different doses .

3 different pills isn't a hardship and is preferable to being over medicated.

Hi,

Exactly the same for me too! However I made the mistake of asking the doc if I could see an endo 18 months ago and now, with him messing my doses around and wanting me to keep lowereing it I have gained over a stone in weight and ache and feel tired once again all the time! These are all symptoms I had 16 - 17 years ago when I was first diagnosed, so in my opinion I am right back to where I started! In fact after latest blood test he phones my doc and told her to tell me to lower it again to 125mcg, which I refuse to do! And I have an apt. with endo next week anyway, so he is clearly treating me by numbers on a screen and not by my symptoms = FED UP.com!

Ideally in time to get results before you see endo.....ask GP to check levels of vitamin d, b12, folate and ferritin. These all need to at good (not just average) levels for thyroid hormones (our own or replacement ones) to work in our cells

If you are under medicated they are likely to be low

We shouldn't be treated like those pictures you used to see ie. 'paint by numbers' and you got a nice picture.

Nowadays, it is treatment by numbers, i.e. for hypothyroidism and hormones adjusted according to the whereabouts of the TSH which comes from the pituitary gland and they never test Free T4 or Free T3 to see what's circulating in our blood.

All tests should be the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow 24 hours gap between last dose of levo and test and take afterwards.

My increase was based on TSH .. 12.30 hour fast (as they were testing other things ) and 25 since last dose ..

The TSH is highest very early a.m. and drops throughout the day, so if you have a test at 9 a.m. the TSH will be higher than one at 4 p.m.
