Tablet increase

I have increased my dose to 75 from 50 as instructed by my GP and several members of thyroid uk. I feel awful shaky and spaced out and last night I had no sleep is this usual after only two days?

I also felt truly awful with my increase in Levo & even ended up in A & E with palpitations. For me, I have to increase in increments of 12.5mcg. You can get a 12.5mcg tablet or can spilt a 25mcg one. Hope this helps!

What brand of levothyroxine was 50mcg tablets

Are you adding the same brand ?

Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable.

Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription.

Watch out for brand change when dose is increased or at repeat prescription.

Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Though it is the only one for lactose intolerant patients. Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet. So if avoiding Teva for 75mcg dose ask for 25mcg to add to 50mcg or just extra 50mcg tablets to cut in half

Teva poll

No other medication or supplements at same as Levothyroxine, leave at least 2 hour gap.

Some like calcium, magnesium, HRT, omeprazole or vitamin D should be four hours away

(Time gap doesn't apply to Vitamin D mouth spray)

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested ?

Having these four vitamins optimal makes tolerating dose increase easier

Teva is a Marmite brand....obviously if you have only tried Teva you don’t know if another would suit you better

Activis is perhaps most readily available different option

I can't cope with a 25mcg increase I have had to go as low as 6.75 mg in the past. Low and slow is the only thing that works for me.
