Am interested to know what you all thought about the thyroid secret videos that have been available recently. I found them quite interesting and learnt quite a lot.

I found the series inspiring and the only problem is that a lot of things she mentioned are so much easier to do/get in the USA than here and the same applies to the access to various practitioners who have the knowledge and experience of dealing with the thyroid issues. Functional medicine in Britain is still in its infancy really as far as I can see.

Exactly. It's all very well following these gurus but to do all the tests recommended at baseline, get treated by a good thyroid specialist or a functional practitioner one would need a spare few grand. Couple that with mobility and work issues. Gah! Still, it's good to glean what we can, and many of these celebrated docs do do their research.

And it gets the subject out there. Maybe one day it will make our NHS endocrinologists make more effort to help the hundreds of people who are at present suffering and floundering through the minefield without much help at all.

As helbell said the research is out there, even the positive results are out there but what seems to be lacking is the 'can do' attitude these American practitioners have and willingness to go against the grain and even try some of the 'easier' solutions like non wheat/gluten diet or looking at basic deficiencies. Still the more publicity the better we hope...
