EXPERIENCE WITH DHEA?

On the advice of my endocrinologist I am about to start on a .5 dosage daily of DHEA, and a small amount of Testoterone. Does anyone have experience of these?

Yes. I took both. Unfortunately my body turned both into estrogen and I went from normal estrogen to extremely high estrogen. I'm now off dhea and testosterone ( even though my testosterone is still low) and trying to get my estrogen down. I am now taking progesterone. The body can use hormones and change them into other hormones. They are very tricky. This doesn't happen to everybody. I wish you success. I do think it's important to retest a min of every 6 weeks. 4 if you can. To see how your body is using the hormones. Also, saliva testing is much truer then blood testing hormones.

Yes. I have had a good experience with both. They really make me feel better - I had a total hysterectomy and don't make hormones very well.

What are the units of the DHEA dose? I take 5mg daily, not a lot at all. Some people dose too high and have problems.

You'll also want to ensure you're not estrogen dominant...make sure your progesterone is high enough to counterbalance if estrogen rises.

My doctor uses a DUTCH test to monitor all my hormones - dried urine test of comprehensive hormones.

I take DHEA. I can't tolerate testosterone directly - it put me into extreme "Hulk, SMASH!" mode, but mine is quite high anyway with DHEA.

So one can take DHEA on it own then?

yes you can take dhea on it own...

I take both bec I had low normal testosterone and dhea and both rose but not out of bounds and still on them

and I still had low estradiol so they convert differently in everyone but I also take progesterone and estrogen....

Thank you for this. I am very post menopause so do I even need oestrogen/progesterone now? Or is that the point of HRT

In UK DHEA is not approved but I got some from the internet - 5mg. GP also refused to give me testosterone. I had an amazing reaction to the DHEA and my calves became shapely and my legs more supple. I felt rejuvenated so doubled the dosage but put on too much weight and then my breasts became lumpy. I was also on HRT and I had overdosed myself on Estrogen so stopped the DHEA until lumps in breast went away. I had thought the DHEA was testosterone but later learned in women it will turn into estrogen.

Later I decided to try the DHEA again to build up my muscles but it didn't work at all that time.

Thank you. I was hoping it would sort of give me a boost, very needed, as I am so sluggish.
