Hello I saw a new consultant today - I explained I was still symptomatic even though my FT4 was above range and the fact my FT3 hadn’t changed since going on T4 from February 2017. I asked for a trial of T4/T3 combination and was basically told you don’t need it as your markets are all in range. I said my FT3 isn’t in optimal range to be told just ignore that it’s not important. So not only does he not recognise T3 treatment or combination of T3/T4 he won’t even test me for FT3. My tsh is currently 2.88 and again says that’s fine even though I said I experience cold intolerance aches and pains weight gain etc to be told it’s not thyroid related - your ranges are all fine! In the end he told me he had other patients to see and was summarily dismissed. No wonder people take matters into there own hands even if it means putting themselves at risk from self medicating. Crazy world we live in - all I asked for was a trial 😩

Unfortunately rather typical. I wish we could inflict them with hypothyroidism, with a very low FT3, deny them any understanding or trial of T3, then see how they like it.
Total ignorance. You put him on the spot and he was out of his depth. He knows nothing about thyroid and should not be seeing thyroid patients.
Are there any stats out there where members got better on T3 or t3/t4 combination after years on t4 only treatment ?

You might want to print out the whole graph and the whole paper that the Table came from and take them with you for appointments that might be difficult.
