Often we are low in vitamins and we need them to be higher to help the conversation of T4 to T3.

You need to have a new blood test for your thyroid hormones.

The appointment should be the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow 24 hours gap between your last dose of levo and the test and take afterwards.

Get a print-out with the ranges of the results and post for comments. I am sorry you have RA as well and if we have one autoimmune condition we can have others.

I have P.A. as well as hypothyroidism. Your pains aches could be due to being on too low a dose of thyroid hormones and certainly with low Vit D. When were you diagnosed? What dose of levothyroxine are you taking. A very low Vit D will also cause problems until you gradually build up to an optimum level.

When were you diagnosed and what dose of levothyroxine are you taking. levo should be taken first thing with one full glass of water and wait about an hour before eating.

Always get a print-out of your results from the surgery with the ranges for your own records and post them for comments.

Get a print-out of your most recent results and post on a ndew question. We are entitled to have copies and yo should keep them for your own records and so you can post for comments.

Ask GP to test TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3. Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. The lab may not do the Frees but your GP should do the rest. You can get FT3 and FT4 privately if you wish and we have recommended labs.

The purpose of thyroid hormone replacement is to relieve us of our clinical symptoms and feel well.

How much vitamin D are you taking? What kind of iron are you being prescribed and how much of it?

Sometimes the amount doctors suggest is so small it would take forever to make a difference to a deficiency, and some types of iron are difficult for the body to absorb

Some of the symptoms of vitamin d deficiency (aching bones and joints) may be similar to some of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. However I believe RA is another autoimmune condition so you may be prone to that with two already.
