Thoughts welcome about dosage .

I wondered if I could get some opinions here. These are my results -

April 2016 ( Pre med)

TSH - 15.9. (0.35-4.94

Ft3 2.9 (2.63-5.7)

Ft4 8.3 (9.01-19.05)

June ( pre med : taking thyro complex ) after a summer holiday : same ranges

Ft4 - 6.5

Ft3 - 3.8

TSH - 26.9 . Pituitary vigorously stimulated according to doc p.

Here's where the med journey begins :

Started ndt - gradual increase and tested after 5 days of being on 2 grains. Same ranges .

August

Ft4 - 11.60

Ft3- 4.30

TSH- 0.05 - nice first results .

Was advised by doc P to increase to 2.5 to try and raise t4 .

Did this 12/8 to 7/9

September

T4 - 13.8

T3- 5.6

TSH - 0.01

A few days after these results I went hyper and reduced back to 2 grains . 2.5 too high.

So from 7/9 to 5/11 - 2 months on 2 grains . Towards end of this period felt tired and increased to what I thought was 2.25 but now realise it was 2.5 . I increased for approximately 11 days in total - ( sporadic 3) and 8 days prior to blood test .

5/11

TSH 0.005

T4 - 19.68

T3- 7.61 ( ranges slightly different but not to hand )

Over medicated ! Explaining the fogginess.

So I've skipped a few doses and will drop back to 2 grains .

Do you think looking at these results that 2 grains will be too much? I ask this because I felt tired within 2 weeks of the last reduction and seemingly needed to reduce rather than increase . Also my results were pretty in range after only having been on 2 grains for 5 days at the beginning .

I guess I have to drop down to 2 anyway - any more would be too big a reduction .

Thanks in advance .

I think the best way is to judge how you 'feel'. If 2.5 was a little too much, maybe increasing by a quarter might have done the trick.

Maybe this might be helpful when self-medicating.

Thanks

This crossed my mind too or perhaps not increased at all after first results .

Unless we give a dose a 'try' we wont really know if we've reached an optimum i.e relief of symptoms.

True .

I'd like to try 1.75 I think but I've taken 2 grains today so will have to stick there for a while .

I still feel Foggy and tired ( not sure the reason ) but I felt good yesterday on my second missed dose day.

I have read that it is recommended when adusting doses to allow 2 weeks on that dose before any other changes are made.
