Always getting ill after being exposed to the cold

Ever since I started having problems with my thyroid I have been very sensitive to the cold. If I am exposed to the cold, even for just a very short period of time I get what resembles a cold for about 3-4 days. It always follows the same pattern - swollen glands, fever, a kind of restlessness in my body. After 3-4 days (but sometimes up to a week) all the symptoms subside including my swollen glands. I then feel fine.

It's just so debilitating to be out of action. If I am not careful, I get this up to 10 times a year.

Any advice?

If you've not had a recent blood test I'd make an appointment.

It should be the very earliest possible and fasting (you can drink water). Also allow 24 hours gap between levo and the test and take afterwards.

Also ask GP to test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. Get a print-out with the ranges and post on a new question.

Ask GP for TSH, T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3 and antibodies. He may not do them all but no harm in asking.
