I know when on levo. not to take your dose for 24 hours before bloods test but is it the same for NDT.
I take my first dose of NDT on waking and my second dose mid afternoon. I have blood test booked in on Friday 9.00am so when should I take my last dose of NDT before blood test.
Many thanks.

I'm on NDT. The day before my bloods I take my usual doses, on waking, mid morning and mid afternoon, so the last one is about 18 hours before the blood test. I really don't want to be without all those doses and as I always do it this way my results should be consistent.
On the day of the blood test it's as recommended, I leave NDT until after I've given blood.
My doctor asked for blood tests recently, but only told me she wanted B12. When I got there the nurse said multiple tests had been ordered including thyroid. When I queried this she said they had been told that thyroid tests need not be fasting. Annoying - and a waste of one set of blood tests as I would have insisted on a fasting test and I would have left it for a week or more as I had only reduced my dose a few days before.
I have never been told by G.P. to fast for any tests, but I always do.
I shall take my afternoon dose the day before.
It depends on how supressed your TSH is and whether your GP/endo is happy with it, do you have any previous results and have you changed your dose since? My GP wasn't nor my endo as I had increased my dose by 0.5g to make me well again. Dr P has recommended not taking for up to 3 days before, next time I have a test. Although it will make me rough for a while it may keep GP and endo happy as I am now on a higher dose than endo and GP think. Saw GP a couple of weeks ago she took blood pressure and pulse and said I was obviously on the correct dose of NDT now, but she wouldn't say that if she had looked at my last bloods for TSH which were <0.02!! On the last occasion I took my NDT in the am the day before but not the lunchtime dose. Will leave it longer next time probably 2 days.
