The endo has faced my GP suggesting reducing Levo to 50mg and T3 at 10mg daily trial for 3-6 months with blood test along the way. Battle now on cause don't think GP will prescribe, if not endo said to go back to them, fingers crossed all round.
T3 Prescribed: The endo has faced my GP... - Thyroid UK
T3 Prescribed
If an Endocrinologist advises how the GP should prescribe, I don't think you'll have a problem. You are having 50mcg of levo reduced and 10mcg T3 added. I think this may be too small but do see how you get along with 10mcg T3. The reason being that 20mcg of T3 is around, in its effect, to 60mcg of levothyroxine.
You will be excited to try the addition of T3 and when 10mcg was added to my T4 I did feel an improvement.
GP may refuse due to local constraints but Endo has said to go back if he refuses so you have all boxes ticked! Hope it goes well for you.
Hi, your situation is exactly the same as mine, but I am 1 step ahead. After months of asking, pleading, crying! Doctor finally referred me to Endo at the hospital. Waited months and was ready to do battle,no need as endocrinologist was fantastic, he sees that 'normal' test results are not normal for everyone so prescribed 50mg levo and 10mg T3.Gave me letter to take to GP to write prescription, who promptly said NO!??? Wouldn't say why but said they had taken advice and it's not prescribed at GP level. Had to contact the endocrinologist who wrote the script and sent it to me, have to go back in 3 months. So don't give up, you will get T3 . I have not seen a difference yet, maybe 10mg is too low as someone else commented, will see how it goes.
Good Luck
I think I am to have 10mcg twice a day, if I can get it! Will go to the surgery on Tuesday ready to do battle!!
