I had a blood test done a few months ago and was told my folate levels were very low (4), i had a 3 month course of folic acid. i recently asked to get my levels checked to see if they had improved and they have come up to 8.5. Is this level still low. I do eat lots of green veg. Thanks

Pulses (as in beans and peas) are also excellent sources of dietary folate.
You did not post the ranges for this blood test, but a sample range from 'on line' is 4.5-45.3 nmol/L. So you are 'okay', not stellar.
Did you also have your vitamin B12 checked when the folate was checked?

ruthcurtis I have seen two ways of folate being measured. One is with a proper range, mine was 10.4-42.4 and the other way was >X where X was something like 5 I think. So it depends on how the lab measures it in your area, you need to ask your GP surgery.
My firstcocer folate test was under range. After the treatment you had it just scraped in range! Had to take another course to get anywhere do we need to be towards the top of the range
