T3tracy,

How much T3 are you taking, how long have you been taking it, and did you take T3 before your blood draw?

Hi yes I did take t3 before test. I'm taking 30mcg a day.

The lab said it was ok to take before test.

It was only about an hour before I done the blood draw.

T3tracy,

T3 peaks in the blood for up to 6 hours after you take it and is highest 1-2 hours after ingestion so although your FT3 is high it is probably measuring the peak dose. You should take T3 after your blood draw.

You've further skewed your results by altering your dose before the test. Why did you reduce dose? The point of the test is to tell what your levels are on 30mcg T3.

Currently TSH is high indicating under medication and FT3 high indicating over medication. Both can't be right so I think you should ignore this thyroid function test and retest in 6 weeks.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

CRP is good.

Ferritin is high in range. If you are supplementing iron you should stop. If not, it is likely you have some inflammation in the body, perhaps caused by a cold or virus at the time of testing. Retest ferritin in 3-6 months.

VitD is optimal but you may need to supplement 2,500iu D3 daily until April to maintain the level. Take D3 4 hours away from T3.

B12 is sub optimal. I would supplement 1,000mcg methylcobalamin with a B Complex vitamin to maintain folate level.

Hi clutter

I had an appointment

With my Dr yesterday he was really angry that I went up on my dose of t3. He said to keep to 25mcg and he has started me 25mg of t4 to start. He said My endo wants me to go on 75mg of t4. I can't tolerate t4. He wont give me any higher dose of 3 than 25mcg a day. I felt bullied into following his advice as he said I had to make a choice of him or go on my own. Can you tell me do you know the statistics of t3 working on its own? I'm thinking of changing drs. He said I was depressed and that he can make me better? He's given me procaz again. Which I haven't taken. I have stared the t4 again to make him happy but felt the cramps in my legs and ankles again last night. Feel achy today again! I didn't sleep till 3am then took take diazepam to make me sleep 4 hours. I really don't want to go down this road again. I'm scared to go on my own with my t3. Please advise. Thank you.

T3Tracy,

You'll have to decide whether to take the T4 and T3 doses your GP recommends or whether to self medicate T3 without your GP's support.

Frankly, I don't see the point in taking T4 if it makes you feel unwell just to please your GP and endo. If you need more T3 than your GP and endo are willing to prescribe you can buy it online without prescription. Write a post asking members for sources via private messages.

If your GP won't monitor your thyroid levels you can order private thyroid tests via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

There are numerous members self medicating T3 only. I've taken T3 only on 2 x 3-months periods and it worked very well, although I now prefer T4+T3 combination.
