As far as I know this doesn't indicate anything sinister. It might mean you're a bit run down or you have allergies. Have you tried a dairy-free diet? That helped me a lot w chronic respiratory allergies. I used to wake up and sneeze sometimes dozens of times, and my nose would stream all day. Dairy-free virtually erased the symptoms and I never suffered as badly again even after returning to dairy products.
Is there something in particular you're afraid of finding? Sore throat can be a thyroid thing but if they're looking up your nose it sounds like they may be checking sinuses - ?
Good luck. I hope it all goes well and they find a fixable cause for your symptoms.
Hopefully it is something & nothing but yeah I'm worried about the big c as that is what they are wanting to rule out, Thankyou for your reply I will certainly try the dairy free diet, I'll try anything really to rid myself off this rubbish feeling.
You have all my sympathy. It is a misery. Good luck w your test and I hope you manage to get to the bottom of what is wrong.
Thankyou. So glad it's nothing serious I've found out today I have rhinitis & acid that's causing the problem.
Yes, I guess you already knew you had rhinitis! Are they going to put you on a ppi?
No I really didn't know that it was, yes I have 3 different meds for this.so hopefully this will work.
I just meant you knew you had an irritated nose. That isn't really a diagnosis so much as a description of your symptoms - the very symptoms that led you to go to the doctor I should think. So you have already told them you had rhinitis, even if you didn't use the word.
Be mindful w the ppis. I know they work for a lot of people and some folk can't do without them but they were meant to be used for short periods.
Do you know if you're optimally treated for your thyroid issues? It's common to run low on stomach acid which can cause issues that look very similar to too much acid, leading to reflux etc. A lot of people feel better taking digestive enzymes and hcl.
Sorry you feel so bad, Gillian.
I used to get bad respiratory infections that lasted 3-4 months before taking thyroid meds. The only thing that helped was a concoction of herbal medicine from a national organic chain or a herbal medicine clinic, that boosted my immune system. It included elderberry tincture, goldenseal, white horhound & yarrow. It tasted horrid, but did the trick.
I'm a degree warmer now, so have don't feel so persistently run down & ill. Have you tried the barnes Basal body temperature test to see if you're warm/medicated enough?
