I have been taking for Nearly 5 months now , I cannot increase more than 1.5 grains without getting extremely itchy and hot with hives around my neck and back . I thought ok to stay at 1.5 .. ( equivalent to 150 Levo ? ) I had a test a 2 months ago .. TSH was 1.94 and my T3 was still quite low . My problem is my severe muscle pain has come back , it is pretty much everywhere .i used to get the same pain taking Levo , I couldn't increase higher than 75, if I did I got the same hot/ hives . I am taking 1000 sub b12 and complex . I havnt tested my vIt d for a while ,, last time it was ok ....not sure what to do now , quite disappointed ... feel might as well go back to Levo ,,, as Dr doesn't know I've changed !

Naturethroid ..unable to increase !
Val-55,
It might be worth trying a different brand of NDT to see whether you can tolerate a higher dose. WP may be hypoallergenic.
What do you consider is okay for vitD? 75-100 is good for most people but if they were summer results levels will drop and you may need to supplement October - April when ultraviolet light is low.
Wondered if it might be allergy ,,, strange I had it with Levo (activas ) perhaps they use same fillers .. my vIt d was 150 but that was over a year ago ... will get that checked I think , first !! Thanks again .
Val-55,

Did you feel well on 1.5 grains but problems began when you increased to try to fit blood results with blood tests?
I am not medically qualified but the blood tests for thyroid hormones were introduced along with levothyroxine so if you are taking NDT, the results may not be equivalent. NDT contains T4, T3, T2 and T1 whereas levo is T4 only.
When on NDT, the usual was to increase dose gradually until you felt well then stopped increasing (with no blood tests). Did you feel well on 1.5 grains of NDT but got problems when you tried to increase? We all need different doses and 1.5 NDT is equal to around 150mcg of levo.

When we take a little too much it can backfire a little and we don't understand why.
Thankyou ,,, apart from muscle pain I feel ok ... same with Levo though , that was why I changed over , ! Yes would it be worth contacting them , is that a link ? I have a recent blood result I could show ... so disappointing !
