My t3 and t4 levels have been elevated for two years now. I have done thyroid uptake, ultrasound and ct scan. The only thing that came back was a thyroglossal duct cyst and I took antibiotics for the infection but my t3 and t4 are still above the normal range. My main symptoms is feeling hot all the time and always sweating. My bones feel weak and sore as well which has me very concerned for osteoporsis. My endo has given up saying to test levels in two months. Is it possible that t3 and t4 could be elevated without a cause?? I am very stressed about this especially after I found out about t3 affecting bone loss. I have no idea what to do anymore.

Luis12,
It will help members advise if you can post your recent thyroid results with the ranges (figures in brackets after results). T4 and T3 being over range with TSH below range indicates hyperthyroidism which is usually treated with anti-thyroid drugs to reduce thyroid levels.
T4 free 1.69 refrence interval 0.93-1.60
Reverse t3 serum 25.3 refrence interval 9.2- 24.1
T3 free 5.4 refrence interval 2.3-5.0
Tsh 2.300 refrence interval 0.450-4.500
Luis12,
Results aren't typically hyperthyroid as it is unusual to have FT4 and FT3 over range with TSH as high as 2.3. Your FT4 and FT3 are mildly over range and unlikely to cause rapid bone turnover leading to osteoporosis.
Your endo ought to consider the possibility of resistance to thyroid hormone or TSHoma causing high FT4 and high TSH.
Where did you hear that T3 causes bone loss?
Before your blood test, did you fast and have the earliest possible appointment and did you also leave about 24 hours from your last dose of thyroid hormones and the test.
If not your results may be skewed.
