New Here --- Ingredients in Thyroid S ... ???

Hi, I'm new here and thinking of taking Thyroid S for my hypothyroid. However, I need to know WHAT is in this product? Is it from humanely treated animals? What are the conditions for them? Also how do we know IF this product is absolutely PURE and lacking contaminants?

Just being cautious ... never heard of this til recently.

Tx.

deebeee Ingredients listed here stopthethyroidmadness.com/a... (scroll down a bit). I'm not sure if your other questions can be answered but you could try asking the company that produces them.

I contacted thyroid s company in Bangkok via email. They were very happy to send full list of ingredients....but I don't have it anymore. I take it, the only ingredient I don't see the point in is the yellow colouring

I have been taking Thyroid since June this year. I had my thyroid removed last year, before that I never took any medication. I grew up with pigs we breed them. Until now I have never eaten any pork bacon etc. For the past 15 years I have ate manly organic and was very fit, however, I have a family auto immune thing going on which didn't show until I was 64 years old.

All I can say is this you can obtain a list from the manufacturer. When I was on levo meds for only 4 months I became very ill, gaining weight, cold, bones aching etc.etc.

I feel great now, on 2 tablets per day and I am 70 years old.

At my age I am happy with these tablets but you have a choice. If you could see how pigs i.e. pork is produced in Europe why worry about them in Thailand?

I think op is worried about how the animals are kept and treated before their thyroid is turned into tablets for you to take.

There has been a lot of negative press lately regarding Halal methods of killing the animals, e.g. Not using the stun gun. Are pigs treated in the same way, I don't know but hopefully someone will know.

Though I know nothing of Halal regulations, I have considerable doubt that pigs can be slaughtered under Halal.

I am not au fait with all religions eating habits but I think those who practice eating halal meat do not eat pork.

I suspect the question applys more generally to how pigs are reared and in that respect Bunnyjean is probably as near as you will get to knowing without visiting Thailand.

I had the same concern and contacted a UK supplier (can be found, or could be, from the thyroid s internet site) and he said that he did not know how the pigs were reared but would find out. I didn't hear anything unsurprisingly. As Bunnyjean says, about pig rearing in eu - unless we can find something that states free range and organic, which would make the meds very expensive. Anyway, I was so desperate I tried thyroid S but found it much weaker than the much more expensive Nature Throid. I also knew nothing about the supplier or sales source risking it to be weak or cut with other substances, or just no hormone at all. I do stumble across a lot of posts by patients that swear by it in relation to cost. From the linked list you can see brand names including NT come from tried and tested reputable sources but still no background on the animals. The closest to what you are looking for seems to be nutri meds claiming pasture fed no med, but the jury is still out on how much active thyroid hormone it has in it. Recent tests indicated it did have a little.

If you are thinking of trying natural replacement, a slight caution from my own experiences is take care of your adrenals as the active t3 can give quite a punch.

Thailand is a mixture of religions Buddist, Hindu but in the South mostly Muslim. Muslims don't eat pork and Hindu's do not eat Beef. It poses the question about humane killing of all animals, I am not a vegetarian but try not to eat too much meat.

I am pescatarian and I take Thyroid-s. I would rather not have to, but since there is no choice (levo stopped working for me), I chose live over the alternative. I would love to just be able to take a "simple tablet" and not worry about the animals, but I have been to Thailand and I would say that having visited a pig farm in this country (not organic or humane IMO), I would imagine that the pigs live a better life there.

I e been on Thyroid S since July last year and I've been fine. Just the usual getting used to it and learning how I react to it etc but I understand your concern. One of the biggest rumours I've heard reportedly from an Endo was that the amount can't be regulated! I think that is wrong! To me you have a vat that is too strong then you mix more filler into it and keep testing or if not strong enough add more desiccated Thyroid. That's very simplistic but I'm ok with that. I'm sure that if it was so wrong they wouldn't still be in business! It doesn't arrive in a dirty container etc so I can't see why it shouldn't be what it says it is.

Learn all about it first though and get your GP's support if you can. You need to know the signs for talking too much or too little and take it very slowly at first, no cutting corners! I've had two big operations whilst taking it and been fine.

If your local hospital won't test T3 then you need to get your own tests don't as with NDT your TSH is likely to be zero and FT4 often half way up the ranges. The is how you should expect it to be so you must get the FT3 result to be sure you aren't under or over medicated.

Not what you're looking for?
