I am new to the site but I feel an urge to reply. TSH alone does not tell much about your thyroid situation. Please ask your doctor for free T4 and T3 tests and possibly thyroid antibodies as well. As I am not a native speaker of English, I don´t even understand what hypogammaglobuline means! I am sure you will get more accurate answers from the other members! Best of luck anyway!
TSH 0.25 indicates you either don't have primary hypothyroidism or, if you are taking Levothyroxine, are adequately medicated. Unfortunately, testing TSH only does not rule out secondary hypothyroidism where TSH may be low-normal but FT4 may be deficient. Ideally TSH and FT4 will be tested at the same time.
Thank you so much for your advice, it seems from what I can gather is that it is an indication of a immune disorder and looking at the range on the blood results the TSH is below the range by a little. I will see what theme doctor says and will requests the test you have suggested. I hope you are OK.
'Immunodeficiency'. It means that your immune system isn't working very well, so that you have impaired defences against infection.
Is that all that was tested? Just these two results? That seems very restrained for a French doctor. lol
Don't worry that the TSH is below range, on its own, it means nothing unless it's high. You do need other thyroid specific tests to know about your thyroid. T4L, T3L. I don't think immunodeficiency has anything to do with thyroid. Did you ask for a thyroid test?
Hi, yes that was why I went to see him, as had been getting poorly regularly, putting on weight, a little breathless and feeling tired all the time, and my glands were very sore.
The problem was that I was getting over a respiritary problem, thought it was a virus and it seem to get worse but was getting to the end of it after a month, my BP was 170, so he decided I may have chronic bronchitis and gave me inhalers, that have given me a bad reaction and now my chest is very inflamed with sharp pains which was a bit scary. So really I am a little confused. I am quite allergic to a lot of meds unfortunately which again shows up in these results.
There were more indicators in the blood results showing slight abnormalities so I suppose I will just have to wait and see. Thank you for your advice I really appreciate your thoughts.
Well, go back to the doctor and ask him to do a full thyroid panel - he can if he wants to!
TSH
T4 libre
T3 libre
anticorps : TPO and Tg
You could have Hashimoto's Disease - hence the antibodies - or you could have secondary hypo where the problem is not with the thyroid gland, but with the pituitary or the hypothalamus. And to know that, you need the T4 and T3 done. Your doctor is being very lazy!
But, the infection could account for the hypogammaglobuline modéré reading.
As well as getting thoroughly tested for a thyroid problem, ask your doctor for tests for ferritin, iron, vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D.
Make sure you get the printout of results when they are done including the reference ranges, and post them on here in a new question.
Low nutrient levels can cause all sorts of unpleasant symptoms, but if French doctors are like those in the UK they don't pay any attention to nutrients. Yu might have to fix those yourself.
Your doctor might think getting a TSH level is sufficient to eliminate thyroid as a cause of your health problems, but it is inadequate. For a full thyroid test you should ask for :
TSH
Free T4 (called, I think, T4 Libre, in France - greygoose will know - she lives in France)
Free T3
Thyroid antibodies - TPOAb and TgAB
If you could get a letter to the UK very quickly through the post, then you could use Blue Horizon or Medichecks for private blood testing.
That's risky, HB! France has the worst postal system in the world, I'm pretty sure! And the most expensive. I really would not risk it.
But, Annsandra13 , if you ask at the lab where you get your blood tests done, they might do the extra tests you want if you say you'll pay yourself. They should agree to that. I've done that before.
Wow, what great friends you all are, I feel so much better after getting your replies, I am pretty determined to get the right answers, just need to feel a bit stronger as too much stress at the moment is giving me pains in my chest, so I am resting to get my strength back.
I can thank you enough for your concern and advice.
. I am speaking to my doctor this evening through my friend here who speaks French and English so I can ask all the relevant questions.
