I'm trying to loose the 40 lbs that I have gained from having hypo thyroid.

My T4 is at 12

My tsh is at 0.07

My doctor just decrease my armor thyroid medication to 90 a day. I was diagnosed about 4 months ago with no weight loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Do you have the range for the FT4, please? The number is meaningless without it. Also, you absolutely need your FT3 tested. You're probably on too low a dose because your doctor is just looking at the TSH!

The range on T4 is 5.0-12.0

T3 is 2.44 and the range is 2.4-4.2

That's low you can afford an increase. I'd persist with that if I were you

Right now I'm taking 90, how much of an increase should I ask for?

You have to go with quarter grain increments. Silly question but did you take your armour on the day of your blood test?

Yes😊

Oh dear. You need a retest and don't take on the day. Opt for an early morning then take it straight after otherwise your numberslook artificially high.

I do not think you needed to decrease your dose. How are you feeling ?

Have you had the following checked - FERRITIN - FOLATE - B12 - VITD ??

If they are low in range then they could be the cause of many of your symptoms. Also thyroid hormones work more efficiently when the above are OPTIMAL - or high in their ranges.

OK, so your doctor was just looking at the TSH. And that's a very good way to keep the patient sick!!! When you are taking any form of T3, the only number to look at is the FT3. And yours is rock bottom - no wonder you feel ill. Stupid man, know nothing about thyroid!

When you are taking any form of T3, you can expect your FT4 to be low and your TSH low/suppressed. You must not dose by them. You have got to dose by the FT3. You desperately need and increase - your FT3 needs to be up the top of the range for you to feel well. You should keep increasing until you feel well.

Are you buying your own NDT? If so, just increase it by half a grain. Your doctor has no idea what he's doing, so don't listen to him. He only know how to dose T4 by the TSH - which is wrong. Can you change your doctor? Or are the all clueless where you are? If that's the case, I think your only solution is to self-treat, or these doctors are going to make you very sick.
