If you take Thyroid medication, you are eligible , for free prescriptions
No matter what you're age,
Same with Diabetes .
Roseyuk, This petition is not about prescription costs. It's about the prices charged to the NHS by pharmaceutical companies.

With due respect, you haven't been following this major problem. The price of T3 which many hypo people need, is being more or less discontinued as it costs the government too much as some vile people are hiking the price by (maybe) 1000%.
Roseyuk, carbimazole which I take for my hyperthyroidism is not exempted. Started my condition in 2003, given an exemption card, renewed after 5 years, but after a further 5 years, my hyperthyroidism was not on the list. For the last 3 years I have had to pay. Made enquiry after enquiry to no avail.
StnOBarnett,
You are quite right that hyperthyroidism is not covered by the exemptions system.
There may be an argument that if you are on block-and-replace, long term, you could become eligible. However that might depend very much on your doctor and the pharmacists involved.
The best you can manage, other than moving out of England, is buying a prepayment certificate at £104 per year. Covers all your prescriptions.
I think the argument might have been that anti-thyroid treatment is short-term and resolution will occur with time, surgery or radio-active iodine. It is, of course, a poor argument.

Hope others do too.
T3 is available over the counter very cheaply in Greece apparently. That's what I've heard.
Signed. This rip off makes me very cross.

It's up to 50,000 already.

I've added my name. A typical monthly dose of T3 costs the NHS over £100 but costs £10 or less in many countries.

I signed and shared on Facebook. There was an email to copy and post to friends and family which I also did. The more people know about this the better!

Signed. My new docs are not happy to continue with my T3 and say it's not been approved by CCG!
The petition has reached 100,000 and has to be considered for debate in Parliament.
Very good idea marigold22 - everyone on T3 should sign it!
Sorry to duplicate but have you seen this one about t3 specifically?
