Her FT3 is very low, but then her FT4 isn't very high, either. Not even mid-range. I think she just needs an increase in Levo - or perhaps several increases in Levo. Does she have secondary hypo? That would explain the very low TSH. But her TSH would be very low on NDT, too.

NDT might work for her, and it might not. Nothing is going to work unless you're on the right dose, and she isn't on the right dose of Levo. Has she had her antibodies tested?

She has not had an increase for 15 years and the her Dr in the UK refuses to increase and to do any other test except for the TSH ....my sister lives Spain most of the year , she can get Levo over the counter . What is secondary hypo ? She has not had her antibodies checked ... What would this show ? I thought she might try both the Levo and the NDT as it has the T 3 ....

Thank you .. You advice is most welcome .😊

Well, if she can get levo otc in Spain, why doesn't she just buy some and give herself an increase? Secondary hypo is when there's a problem with the pituitary rather than the thyroid gland itself. The TSH is always low, even when the Frees are low. But, by the sound of her doctor, she must have had a high TSH at some point or she wouldn't have got diagnosed.

Antibodies would show if she had Hashis, not secondary hypo. But it would be a good idea to get them done.

NDT contains T4 as well as T3, so taking NDT and levo might give her too much T4. She might just need more levo to be perfectly fine. She's probably feeling bad because her dose is too low. But she won't know how well she's converting, and whether she needs T3, until she gets her T4 a lot higher.

Thank you ..I have three sisters and three of us have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism .... Our mother was as well .... Pthankyou forvexplaing the secondary ... I'm sure that with the state of the NHS and the ignorance of the Drs here are going to be a problem with her getting an increase as she has already been told that she cannot have one because of her TSH results ....... I will have to tell her to stock pile her Levo from Spain ... Thanks 😊

I can tell you I have done so ,so much better on NDT .I would never go back to Levathyroxine, This is something I have also heard from many people ,my daughter included.NDT has been around for a very long time with no problems and many people have problems with Levothyroxine. I personally do not know anyone who has not done better on NDT ...Good luck
